I booked a weekend stay for my girlfriend's birthday at a Sky Run rental and less than a week before our vacation I was laid off from my job. We considered cancelling the trip to save some money that was now very limited, but in the end decided to go anyway. I'm very glad that we did.
We had a great stay at the resort and loved our room. We had a beautiful view of Keystone mountain and were able to go to dinner and bars without driving at all.
Sunday evening before we left we decided to take the Gondola up the mountain since my girlfriend doesn't ski and had never been to the top before. While we were hiking around and exploring all of the things to do up there, we ran into my girlfriend's old boss. They chatted for a while and it came out that his new company had a position open that I would be a great fit for. We exchanged information, and long story short, I was hired a couple of weeks later.
If we had cancelled our trip we would not have had the wonderful weekend that we did, and my job search would certainly have taken much longer. As soon as I accrue enough vacation days we will be returning!
