Montesino Ranch
Hiking and swimming was on the agenda for the day. My boyfriend and I thought it was the perfect combination. We'd get all hot from our hike up the trail at Montesino Ranch and then cool off at the famous Blue Hole.
So we start off our hike making some friends with some horses and we begin to our 2 mile. Up and up we go. I didn't expect to get so hot. We were dripping sweat. We brought one bottle of water. Aren't we smart? We climbed and sweated and made our way back to the end of trail with nothing but thoughts of swimming in cool water on our minds. We packed our things and headed to the Blue Hole. As soon as we got there, we were told the Blue Hole was at capacity and we would have to come back in an hour. Disappointed but not totally bummed we turned around and thought of an alternate plan. What about Jacob's Well? Perfect! We drove up there and noticed they were letting people in. We quickly parked, grabbed our towels and walked to the entrance. The couple in front of us went through the gate, but when we were next the attendant let us know they had JUST reached capacity. Bummer! All we wanted to do is swim, but we gave up our swimming hole dream. What do we need to bring our spirits up? Froyo, of course! After a trip into town and a cup of frozen yogurt, we cleaned up and headed to a winery for dinner. It turned our whole day around! Two bottles of wine and the an amazing meal later... we had just had one of the best days. Swimming holes.. who needs them when you have wine, a great date and good food! |
