SkyRun Vacation Story from
The Markel Vacation

Keystone
August 2013
Quicksilver # 1658

The best family summer vacation we've ever experienced! The wonderful condo in Keystone was like our home base as we explored beyond that every day to see some amazing sights. We hiked in Vail, did some white water rafting and explored Garden of the Gods. I would pack a lunch and we would head out on an adventure. Every day we would look for a breathtaking spot to have our family picnic. One day we stumbled upon Turquoise Lake after a train ride, the next day it was a panoramic view at the top of a mountain in Vail. Coming from 100 degree August Texas weather the 30-40's at night and 70-80's during the day was so refreshing. You could hear the coyotes in the mountains at night with the windows open and sit on the patio in the morning with a hot cup of coffee enjoying the view of the mountains and cool temperatures. Our 2 grown boys loved the exploring and we never once turned on a TV. We will definitely do a Colorado Summer vacation again!! It was wonderful … to hike to the top of the Continental Divide and play in the snow one day to enjoying the warm sun rafting on the Colorado Rivers the next and then the free outdoor jazz concert in Vail at the Gerald Ford Amphitheater after hiking all day in the mountains. I am sharing some photos, which do not do justice to the beautiful scenery at the condo, Vail, the river, Garden of the Gods, Turquoise Lake and more. As working parents with busy grown kids in HS and College it was a great way to reconnect with them as we hiked and explored some beautiful places.
